Description
This device is suited to a 5kw generator and automatically maintains the generator output terminal voltage at a set value under varying load and operating temperature. It controls the output voltage by sensing it at the power generating coil and comparing it to a stable reference. An error signal is then used to adjust an average value of the field current. The entire point of having an automatic voltage regulator is to be sure that the voltage sent down the line is stable and not subjected to variables that may damage sensitive electronic components. Generators that are used as standby power plants need to have a voltage regulator to ensure stability in output.
